I need help to understand how an app/carrier service can be listed as supporting prepaid duties.
Context: We are a cross-border carrier supporting shopify merchants with international deliveries, and our service includes prepaid duties collection at label purchase.
Problem statement: Some Shopify merchants using our app (Teleship Global Shipping - Prepaid Import Duties/Tax + Seamless International Shipping | Shopify App Store) flagged that since recently, when they configure us as carrier service in settings>shipping and delivery, to retrieve live rates at checkout and label purchase, they see the following message appear for international shipping zones when configuring our rates in Carrier Rates:
“No service supports prepaid duties”.
As our service does support prepaid duties, we’d like to understand how an app/carrier service is recognized as supporting duties.
We believe the root cause lies in the way our app or carrier service is recognized or flagged in Shopify.
We suspect this may require:
- Updating app metadata/config to indicate DDP support.
- Or Shopify whitelisting of Teleship as a prepaid duties carrier.
We’ve reviewed Shopify developer documentation but found no clear pathway to resolve this ourselves. This is raising questions from merchant.
We’d like to get clarity whether there is a specific configuration or registration steps needed to ensure our carrier service is correctly recognized as supporting prepaid duties?
Thank you!
