Hey everyone, I am curious if anybody else has faced this issue yet or if it is just on my end.
As I was working on a quick demo yesterday evening to then share here in another topic. I had wrote a bunch of changes to a file and realized I needed to change something in another file for the demo so when I went to do that and came back to the file I was working on, the code editor seemed to reload it without offering to save the changes that I had not yet saved.
It is not the end of the world or anything but it is definitely something that had not been an issue when I last used the online code editor.
This was in a dev store that is a few years old, so I am unsure if it would happen in all environments, but I figured I should share in case it does because that is an issue that should be fixed if so, if nothing else, to potentially reduce the number of support tickets that may come in about it.
Thanks!
Hey, thanks for flagging this.
I was trying to replicate on my own store but haven’t run into the issue yet.
Though I’m wondering how long files have been open and other details that would help narrow down the replication steps.
When I try to reload the page with a change not saved on a file, it does warn me. Not that it’s the same but wanted to confirm I was warned before potentially losing some of my changes
Hey @Ludo_Shopify, at some point while working on that it stopped happening. When it was happening it was like the editor itself refreshed as I am not sure it was a full page refresh, but at some point it stopped doing that.
My thought was that if it was replacing the editor it was executing any JS that came with it when that occurred and part of that JS may have been a fix for what I was experiencing. Even if it was a full page reload, the fix could have been there too.
Regardless, it did stop happening so my guess is that nobody would be able to recreate the issue currently. In hindsight, I should have took a recording of it for at least some visibility.
