I’ve noticed that the search function on community.shopify.com and community.shopify.devstruggles when using Chinese and Japanese characters.
For example, if I search for “折扣” (discount in Chinese), the system returns “Your search term is too short.” :
This happens even though “折扣” is a complete and meaningful two-character word that represents a significant search term in these languages.
This issue also applies to Japanese and likely other CJK languages, where a small number of characters can form a full word or concept.
It seems the search algorithm might be treating each character as an individual unit, leading to “too short” errors for valid multi-character terms.Improving the search functionality to correctly parse and interpret CJK characters would greatly enhance the experience for a large portion of the global user base.
