Confusing App Review Feedback - Subscriptions

Hi all! Attempting to submit my first app but running into some difficulty with the review. My app has a lightweight integration with Shopify Subscription App (if customer bought X weekly → provide access to content), as one of its features but itself is not a Subscription App. In my review feedback I have been given 7 items to correct all relating to Subscriptions for example (“Include an option for merchant’s customers to cancel their subscription to comply with our requirements.”, Update your app to provide merchant’s customers the option to modify their payment method associated with a subscription").

Is this to be expected? Given the feedback is for the third-party subscription app, should I also be implementing its features? The numerous changes will push back my release significantly and do not seem relevant to my application.

If this isn’t to be expected, whats the best way to communicate with the reviewer regarding these points? It doesn’t appear one can engage in a back and forth

Same here—so frustrating! It takes 7 days to get a response, and every time they pause the review for unclear reasons. This has happened to us twice already.

What’s worse, there’s no way to contact the person or team responsible for these arbitrary pauses!

Compare this to mobile app stores, where apps can be reviewed, published, and made available to millions of users efficiently. The most ironic part is the vague note they leave when they decide not to provide a clear explanation for their decision:

Please note: You’ll be able to start a conversation with an App Review Specialist only after we’ve verified these core review requirements are met.
