Hello, we have a suite of POS apps that use Cart Transform functions. In our case, we have both existing merchants updating our app and installing our new Cart Transform function, and any new merchants installing our app also get this functionality by default.
We have seen certain cases where we install the function successfully, but when the merchant goes to use our app in POS, the function for whatever reason doesn’t run and there is an indeterminate delay of when it ultimately gets applied.
In one case, I was at a merchant’s physical store trying to get this working and ended up having to wait around 10 minutes for the update to finally be applied. During that time I tried doing a Reset Account to hard log out of their POS device, multiple Store data refreshes, switching to cellular hot spot, all to no avail. Finally, randomly, the function started working.
Right now for users migrating to our new Cart Transform feature, we have to tell them that “it might not work immediately, if not then uninstall it and reinstall it at the end of your business day so that Shopify can apply the update overnight.”
Meanwhile for merchants who’ve just installed our app, we’ve also just run into a case where the function doesn’t want to run (I’m assuming it’s the same timing issue) and this results in a very poor first-time user experience, as we just have to tell them to wait and hopefully Shopify applies the update to their POS device soon.
Is there a way to reliably ensure POS devices get a newly-installed cart transform function immediately?
