Hi Shopify Community,

We have recently begun rolling out Shopify services to our merchants in the Omani market and are now looking to enhance our checkout experience by enabling Apple Pay. We are keen to understand the process and any specific requirements needed to prioritize this integration.

Could you please share the necessary steps or documentation required to proceed? Looking forward to your guidance.

Yes, we are an approved payment partner. Our offsite payment extension is available on the Shopify App Store at Amwal Pay - AMWAL Pay – Secure Omani Payment Gateway for Shopify Stores | Shopify App Store. Could you please grant us permission to enable Apple Pay at our checkout?

If you manage the offsite checkout then I don’t think you need additional permission to use Apple Pay. Where are you seeing that you would need this?

I understand that we don’t need permission to use Apple Pay processing on our checkout. However, according to the Shopify documentation (Requirements for Payments Extensions), enabling Apple Pay for offsite extensions is prohibited. I’ve noticed that some offsite extensions are still offering Apple Pay.

Could you please clarify whether we can enable Apple Pay in our checkout or not?

Hey Babar,

Thanks for sharing that doc - I’m not super familiar with the Payments API, so I missed this. It does seem that Apple Pay is prohibited for payments extensions. If you’re seeing partners violate this requirement you can use this form to report this issue: https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/report-a-partner-violation
