Shopify app marketplace is pretty mature at this point. I am having trouble seeing a path to getting the initial 5 - 10 reviews needed for broader credibility.
I launched an app that I believe is unique, offering features that set it apart from the competition. However, short of relying on my web dev clients for feedback, I am having a hard time getting people to even install it. I believe I need initial reviews to gain more traction.
Does anyone have some advice on getting these first few critical reviews?
It’s definitely not easy, and I agree the maturity/sheer number of applications makes it hard. I would say that it’s OK to take time to grow naturally.
Reviews will provide some form of social proof, but they don’t equal installs and/or revenue. Maybe focus on creating a really good demo store/example(s) to show off the product instead?
Another option is to be aggressive with ads (app store or google) to get some installs flowing. It won’t be efficient, but perhaps it could be that helping hand. The old saying - you’ve got to spend money to make money!
