How come this app is allowed to bypass Shopify Billing for apps?

Over the past few days, I had been investigating this app Alidrop: Alibaba & AliExpress Dropship - Automated Aliexpress, Temu and Alibaba dropshipping. | Shopify App Store

turns out very shady business practice. They are cleverly bypassing the Shopify billing for apps by collecting payments via 3rd party payment gateways for all users, but if your store email contains the word “shopify.com” which testers usually do, they show shopify billing to fool them. God knows for long it has been going on, this puts real risk for the merchants, and unfair competition for fellow app developers. Guess what, I already reported them in the past and no action is taken against them.

Some apps will have exemptions from Shopify to bill outside of the Billing API, while I can’t confirm I can imagine Shopify cannot share the reasons for this apps exemptions.

The exemption is only for the cost of goods sold and not app subscriptions. The incident i reported is for the app subscription. See: About billing for your app
