Integrating 3rd party tools in Shopify POS through iframes

Use case: embed a 3d product planner/configurator (such as theplannerstudio) directly in POS:

  1. Store staff selects a customer
  2. POS UI Extension loads a custom block showing customer’s saved configurations
  3. Store staff selects a specific configuration
  4. An overlay opens which loads theplannerstudio with saved configuration in an iframe
  5. Store staff interacts with the configurator
    1. Saves changes
    2. Adds items to the basket
  6. Items are added to the basket
  7. Store staff completes the order as usual

From what I can tell, embedding iframes is currently not possible. But it seems we’re much more limited than that too - there’s not even an option to show an external link which would open in a browser instead?

Any feedback on how to go about implementing 3rd party tools in the POS UI ?
