Intermittent “Internal error” (500) on several Admin GraphQL queries and mutations

Hi everyone,

Since around 11:15 UTC on 2026-10-14, our custom app (Admin GraphQL API, version [2025-07]) has been getting this response on a lot of unrelated queries and mutations:

Internal error. Looks like something went wrong on our end.
Request ID: <id> (include this in support requests).

What we see

  • It comes and goes: other requests made at the same time succeed (HTTP 200).
  • Retrying works. One order failed on fulfillmentCreate at 11:15:49 UTC, and the same request for that order succeeded at 11:16:38 UTC.
  • It isn’t tied to one operation. It hits queries and mutations, from webhook jobs and from requests users make.
  • Nothing changed on our side: same queries, same permissions, same API version.
  • shopifystatus.com shows no incidents.

Questions

  1. Is there a known issue right now with the Admin GraphQL API, possibly for only some stores or shards?
  2. Can someone from Shopify look up these request IDs and tell us the server-side cause?
  3. Is there anything on our side (API version, que 2026-10-14T11:59:00Z ry cost, request rate) that could cause 500s instead of normal errors or throttling?

I can share the store ID privately if that helps.

Hey everyone thanks for reporting this. I looked into some of those request IDs you shared and there was an issue around the same time. It has been resolved now. Can you confirm if you are still seeing those errors?
