I have developed a Shopify App and Customer Account Extension. I want to install it on my Shopify Store to properly test it before rolling it out and publishing on the Shopify App Store. Do I need to submit the code for now only? I am getting this prompt:
I test my staging app on my development store. If you are testing this on a Non-Development store it may be the reason why.
If you set the distribution of your app to Public instead of Custom, then you will get that message on any store that isn’t your development shop.
You would need to complete the app review process if you want to test an app set to Public distribution on a normal shop.
Alternatively, I recommend creating a new app config so you can duplicate your app. Then set the distribution of the duplicate app to Custom so you can test on a normal shop.
Thank you so much for sharing this alternative. I’ll try this right away.
Yes, client wanted to test on his own store, before listing on store.
If you’ve developed an app for a single shop or a single organization, you don’t need to publish your app to the App Store. You only need to that if you want your app to be installed by multiple shops.
