Managed pricing discounts - API?

I’m moving to managed pricing today. I know I can add a discount for a merchant from the partner dashboard after they install the app.

Is there a way now or planned in the future for me to apply discounts BEFORE an install?

Use case:

  • I hold an event or sponsor something
  • “visit this link and get 10% off our app”
  • I was able to do this with the billing API in the past

Thanks for reaching out! Im from the team working on Managed Pricing. Pre-install discount configuration is something that does not exist today. We aim to reach feature parity with the billing API, including the feature you describe. We are prioritizing other things at the moment.

Happy to address other questions you may have.

Thank you for getting back to me and giving me some insight on whats going on. I launched the managed pricing for out all just a few minutes ago! Loving it so far.

Is there a way to apply a discount to the CURRENT installed app? Sometimes I’d like to give someone a discount on the current plan they are on without them having to pay full price then get the discount on the next billing cycle.

Right now I have to do a weird dance of sending people money to cover the discount on the current cycle until the next one hits

Also - when a user moves to to another plan, the discount goes away.

Its all very messy now with managed pricing.

Following up on this. I would really like an API to interact with discounts.

I have also noticed that discounts do not apply when a merchant changes plans. It would be awesome if there was a flag to allow for percentage discounts to persist across all plans
