Is it possible to hide the Express Checkout options that appear at the top of the first page of the checkout journey? We don’t want to disable them entirely. We want to be able to display them on the Payments page.
Hi @Jamal_Ali - you could use the Payments Functions features to set something like this up (more info here). It’s mainly intended to trigger certain payment availability based on checkout/cart conditions, but you could potentially use customer tags to trigger which payment options become available at certain times.
If this doesn’t work for you - could you let me know what use case you’re looking at implementing and I’d be happy to see if we can look at some workarounds.
Hope this helps!
Hi @Alan_G, thank you for your response. Our use case is essentially just to move the express checkout button that appear on the first page to further down the checkout journey. Preferably underneath the section that lists the available payment methods.
I believe it is a 2 step process. So 1st, hide the express checkout buttons on the Information page. 2nd, render the express checkout buttons on the Payment page (a checkout ui extension maybe?)
I have created a Payment Customization and it does help, but how will it function if I add, for example, Apple Pay? When the customer chooses that option how can I handle that?
Hey @Jamal_Ali — I did a bit more digging, and I can confirm that right now the location of the express checkout/digital wallet buttons during the checkout journey is predefined and can’t be changed. The only control available is to hide them using the Payment Functions feature like we talked about above there.
If it would be helpful, I can submit a feature request on your behalf though. I can’t guarantee any specific outcome, but I have seen feature requests I’ve submitted in the past get released as full features—so it does happen!
Just let me know here if you’d like me to set one up for you, and feel free to share any additional details about your use case. I’d be happy to help with that.
Thanks @Alan_G, I will try to hide them with a payment customisation. Will update how I get on.
In terms of feature requests, I think a lot of merchants would appreciate if the Express Checkout buttons were a Checkout UI component that can be rendered in any of the targets.
No worries Jamal, glad this helped a little bit. I’ll get that feature request set up for you as well - let me know if I can help out any further at all
