New App Uninstall Mandatory Reason Selection: Useless!

App uninstall reason is now mandatory. In theory this is great but, in practice all uninstall reasons are now “Testing multiple apps” which, is the first option in the list so I am quite skeptical that they’re all “testing multiple apps”, especially when these are sometimes stores who installed the app years or months ago and never used it!

If you’re going to make uninstall reason mandatory —which I think is a nice idea— the UI must change. Now it appears it’s being viewed as a perfunctory dialog and is providing 0.0 feedback to app owners.

A better UI would be: if they do not select an option and press “uninstall” a dialog is presented with a text area that forces them to type something. Certainly this may result in gibberish but, maybe not. The only things that appears certain now is: we’re getting useless feedback with the new design.

Hi @sshaw

Thanks for the feedback on this - it does sound likely that users are quickly selecting the easiest/first option for a faster uninstall experience. It’s always a delicate balance to find the experience that provides partners with what they need without increasing friction for merchants - will dig into how this UX could be improved. That being said, developers have shown me examples of how they’ve gotten valuable feedback from merchants already from this new flow, so it’s unexpected that you’re seeing zero.

Ha, where are these developers‽ We continue to get “Testing multiple apps” for 95% of uninstalls

I’m having the same experience.

Same here. Between that and the “scheduled_cancellation; App uninstalled as part of scheduled shop cancellation” events my app seems to be going through, my uninstall stats and app history are a complete mess!

I’m having the same experience. Most clients choose to test multiple apps. The reasons for uninstallation are basically meaningless.

Chiming in to say we also have the same experience here :man_raising_hand:

Same here, sometimes they also pick “Not satisfied with app features” But it does not help, it just sounds like a negative rant with nothing insightful.

Do you know what the scheduled shop cancellation mean?

I saw it couple of times. I expected that it means the shop is closing but every time the shop is still online, so I’m not sure..

It looks like this may be related to a different way users can shut down their stores: New uninstall reason: scheduled_cancellation - #2 by Donal-Shopify

I also see a lot of REDACTED, which seems to be related to uninstall purges: "REDACTED" in App History, anyone else? - #5 by Donal-Shopify

Nearly 2 months later and all we get is “testing multiple apps”. The design must change. We’ve gone from getting actionable feedback that we can follow-up on to useless nonsense. Stop the madness!
