There’s a new error code THROTTLED (“Billing attempt rate limit exceeded - try later”)
I completely understand why Shopify might build this feature in but is there any workaround for testing multiple billings on the same subscription? It’d be nice if this wasn’t enforced on subscription contracts with a clearly fake/bogus payment method (4242 or 1 for example).
This is a safety feature that was shipped recently and it currently doesn’t support overwriting for test purposes. To help us evaluate building support and allocating resources for this can you describe your usecase, what value this would unlock?
There’s plenty of reasons we’d want to create multiple orders for a single subscription in test. One example is testing out expiration of a subscription fully end to end. But in general when testing subscriptions and platforms around them its very convenient (I would say necessary) to be able to quickly trigger multiple billing attempts for the same subscription. These aren’t real subs, nor real cards - its the bogus gateway so this safety measure seems a bit much.
Hello! Any update on this or a way that we (or a merchant) ask for getting this limit either increased or removed? It’s currently blocking one of our production merchants.
Is this limit per shop, per subscription? Is there anything we can do to mitigate the issue or help it get resolved? The error is not very helpful
