Hi Shopify developer platform team,
We’re building a production AI shopping agent on UCP using the Catalog API credentials from the Dev Dashboard. We don’t have a Partner Manager, and Shopify support suggested posting this request here.
Request
Please provision Token-tier access with the read_global_api_orders scope for this client, so we can use Order MCP (get_order):
- Client ID: 723505eba7f967590f74234688e2105c (Dev Dashboard → Catalogs → Default API Key)
What works today
Catalog search, cart and checkout work against our dev storestaging-store-xear7yad.myshopify.com. We pay through the checkout page and read the Order GID
back from the checkout. Our agent profile declares dev.ucp.shopping.order, and tools/list on thestore’s /api/ucp/mcp lists get_order.
What fails
We mint a token via POST https://api.shopify.com/auth/access_token (client_credentials). TheJWT’s scopes claim contains only:
read_global_api_catalog_search write_global_api_app_events
Calling get_order on the store’s UCP MCP endpoint returns:
orders_not_allowed: “Missing required scope: read_global_api_orders.” (severity: unrecoverable)
The Dev Dashboard doesn’t let us add scopes to this key (the Catalog “Agent identity” card only shows name, icon, credentials and redirect URLs), so we understand this has to be provisioned on Shopify’s side.
Also, if possible
We’d like to receive order webhooks (orders/create, orders/updated) for orders placed through our agent. We understand subscriptions are registered server-side with no self-serve API, and we don’t have a Partner Manager. How should we request that?
Questions
- Can you enable read_global_api_orders for the client above?
- Is it available for development stores, or does it require a production store or any approval step?
- What’s the route for registering an order webhook delivery URL without a Partner Manager?
Thank you.
