The full migration experience for Shopify App Pricing is now available to apps with new and existing subscriptions.
Apps using the Billing API can now move existing subscriptions to Shopify App Pricing without asking merchants to re-approve charges. Subscriptions move at the start of their next billing cycle with zero revenue disruption.
How it works
Partner Dashboard migration tool: For simple recurring subscriptions, you can move subscriptions to matching App Pricing plans in one click. The tool lets you test plans on development stores first, so you can confirm everything works as expected before rolling out to production stores.
Shopify CLI: For more complex migration needs like usage-based subscriptions, private plans, and price adjustments, use the new Shopify app subscription-migrations commands. You can schedule migrations in bulk, track their status, and cancel pending migrations if you need to adjust your plans.
Unlimited private plans: We’ve also removed the 15-plan, 20-store per/plan cap. You can now create unlimited private plans with customer-specific pricing for enterprise deals, custom arrangements, or any pricing structure your business needs.

Draft App Pricing plans that match your existing manual plans
Test them on development stores
Move simple subscriptions with one click, or use CLI commands for complex billing
Track migration status and confirm subscriptions move on schedule
Thanks for shipping this. A question for apps that were already on Managed Pricing before April 2026.
Our apps use Shopify-hosted plans. Today we still receive the app_subscriptions/update webhook, and currentAppInstallation.activeSubscriptions still returns the subscription. The Partner API activeSubscription query returns the same subscriptions with a legacySubscriptionId set, including one created last week.
The migration guide says apps already on Shopify App Pricing should move subscription checks to the Partner API, and that webhooks are no longer sent after April 28, 2026. Three things I could not find in the docs:
For apps enrolled before April 2026, is there a date when app_subscriptions/update stops firing and currentAppInstallation stops returning these subscriptions?
Do our existing subscriptions need to be moved with the new migration tooling, or does Shopify move them?
Will new subscriptions on these apps keep getting a legacySubscriptionId, or does that stop at some point?
We would like to switch before anything is turned off, so a date or a rough window would help a lot.
Webhooks and currentAppInstallation: both still work for App Pricing subscriptions today but I wouldn’t rely on it existing long term, as it may be removed at any time. For subscription status, use the Partner API’s activeSubscription query.
Existing subscriptions: your subscriptions are already on Shopify App Pricing, so there’s nothing to move. this tooling apps moving subscriptions from the Billing API to App Pricing.
legacySubscriptionId: App Pricing subscriptions currently get this record; like the webhook behavior above, don’t depend on it being present for future subscriptions. Use the Partner API subscription ID as your primary identifier.
