I’m building a Shopify app called “SmartAltGen”.
It is an AI-powered app that automatically generates alt text for Shopify store images.
The app will support:
- Product images
- Blog images
- CMS / page images
- Entire store image coverage
Merchants will be able to choose:
- AI-generated alt text or use image title
- Select scope (products, blogs, pages, or full store)
- Set character limit (max 120 characters)
The alt text will be generated according to WCAG accessibility guidelines to ensure it is clear, meaningful, and accessible for users with visual impairments.
I am using Shopify Admin API + Gemini AI for generating alt text.
I would really appreciate your feedback and suggestions:
