"Something went wrong. Try clicking Add block again." when trying to select my app extension

I am trying to build an app extension, that lets me put a block into the product information section.

So far I made progress, but after logging in this morning, for whatever reason the block doesn’t show up anymore. All I get is this now, when I try to add it back to the product page:

I’ve tried different things for hours now but have no clue where the issue may be. I get no errors besides this message here.

shopify app dev is running. when I check the app status everything seems to be fine.

Where could an issue be or how can I find out what it is?

The thing is that everything worked fine yesterday, but today I see the developer console popping up every time I reload. This wasn’t the case yesterday, so I am a bit unsure now if I even used the correct developer mode. But it had to be.

What is the issue here?

I’m getting that error as well, and beside that, in Customize > App embeds it’s showing “Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes“. I’m struggling for a couple of hours but nothing works.

The only way it’ll work fine is if my app I’m currently developing, is uninstalled.

Same here. This was working perfectly yesterday before the migration to de Dev dashboard thing

So this Developer console is actually new and I am not insane?

Besides I don’t even understand what the purpose is. Here it also says that extensions are supposed to show up, but they don’t.

Yes @ferfekfrjerl haha not going insane. My team is actively developing an app + theme extension and I found this new thing when I started working this morning.

The CLI was asking me to run a deploy to generate a uid for my extension, which I did. My app loads, I see the dev dashboard, but my theme embed extension is failing with the same error @Marius_Hogas has reported above.

I even tried to scaffold a new Shopify app + theme_extension from scratch: same error.

I’ve found this Migration guide: Migrate from the Partner Dashboard Check the date of the video, they published it yesterday.

If anyone learns about how to unblock this, please comment!

Wow, that was exactly my issue too. I had to deploy to generate a UID.

And i also created a completely new app to try to rebuild my app and see where the issue was and same thing.

Ok, at least we are not alone with our problem, but it seems it’s on shopify’s site then?

I think so, as we’re experiencing the same! I hope more people report it and they can fix it or provide support. I was supposed to release the app to staging today oh gawd

same problem here. was working fine this morning and now it’s broken. I followed the migration steps but only see the “Try clicking Add block again” error.

@Liam-Shopify Hey Liam! Can you have a quick look into this please? Thanks!

My theme-app-extension is also no longer running since the update

So @Maria_Simo @Marius_Hogas @keerl

I created a new dev store as recommended by @Lyntest and now it works again.

Edit: It now shows up in the editor but not in the store.

Hi! Was anyone able to unblock this?

I created a new dev store. I’m still testing, but for me it seems to be working in the editor and in the store. My type of app is embeded.

The problem went away for me once I cleared my browser cache.

We are looking into this. We believe it’s an issue only on stores that have been migrated from the Partner Dashboard. As a workaround, you can try creating a new dev store in the Dev Dashboard.
