Hi - I am wanting to develop a payment extension. However, my understanding is that I need to be of a certain level of partner.

Is the best process to hire / contract someone that is the required level so they can develop it? Or is there a way to apply without having a suite/history of developments?

What is the best process to find a developer for this? I have been looking on the directory but can’t see any specific mention of payment gateway/extension developers - if it is under a different term or umbrella please let me know.

Currently we’re not accepting new submissions for developers who want to develop a payment extension.

Our payments platform is available by invitation only while we continue to build out our Payments Apps API. Shopify will open the payments platform to new applications in the future.

Does this mean that Shopify will most likely reject any application for a payments platform, even if it is built by a Shopify Development Partner with the correct and pre-exisiting accreditation/invite?

If you already have approval and have been invited then you should be able to use the API. I’d recommend connecting with the team who invited you.
