What’s Happening
We’ve recently started seeing $0.00 charge records for users on our free subscription plan, which wasn’t happening before. This change seems to have started around the same time Shopify requested all app listing pages to include free tier pricing plans (about 2 weeks ago).
Technical Context
We’re using the standard Shopify Billing API with the free tier implemented as a subscription plan with $0.00 price.
Impact
While these $0.00 charges don’t affect our revenue, they create unnecessary records in our system.
Questions
Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Is this expected when implementing free tier pricing plans? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
