Update: release of the new Shopify Markets and related APIs

Hi everyone, thank you all for your valuable questions, feedback, and engagement with the rollout of the new version of Markets to date.

We have begun rolling out the new version of Markets to eligible Shopify stores, and Plus merchants now have the ability to opt in to Markets via the Test Drive feature.

As we roll out the new version of Markets to more shops, apps that interact with the Markets and/or Catalogs APIs on versions 2025-01 or earlier may have unpredictable behaviour. Our highest priority is rolling out new features in a manner that is safe and does not disrupt merchants’ businesses. For this reason, stores with these apps installed are not yet eligible to receive the new version of Markets. Please note the following to ensure your app(s) do not prevent merchants from being eligible for the new Markets:

  1. Update your apps to the 2025-04 version of the Markets and Catalogs APIs as soon as possible. Everything you need can be found in the developer preview documentation.
  2. If you have tested your app on 2025-01 or earlier with the new version of Markets and have confirmed that there is no disruption, please reach out to us via this form and we will lift the eligibility criteria on your app.

If you do not take one of the two actions above, stores with your app installed will remain ineligible to receive the new version of Markets. Stores that are already on the new version of Markets will be notified when trying to install your app that they may encounter unpredictable behaviour.

We also wanted to update you that while we will not be rolling out the new version of Markets to all stores on July 1, starting on August 1st, ineligible merchants will be notified in admin of any apps they are using that are preventing them from accessing the new version of Markets. Plus merchants, regardless of whether their apps are compatible, will still have the option to choose their opt-in date to the new version of Markets via Test Drive.

Hi,

We are a Shopify Plus merchant and we’re trying to access the new version of Shopify Markets.

In the old Markets section, we see a message inviting us to migrate via Test Drive, but when we click the button and get redirected to the Test Drive page, there’s no option available to activate the new Markets.

We’d like to know if this is due to any specific limitation on our store or if there’s an additional step we need to follow. This functionality is essential for us, as we need to assign different business entities to specific markets.
