Updates not shown after theme app extension deployment

Hi all,

I’ve had this problem several times in the past, and I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong (or if it’s just how it is).

Yesterday I deployed my theme app extension to my TEST app (with shopify app deploy). I had made some major updates to my locale files.

However when I go look at my store with this app installed, the locale updates aren’t shown. I tried re-deploying several times, same thing.

Checked the store an hour later, still no updates.

Left it overnight, still no updates.

Am I missing something? Is there a trick to this? I’ve had this problem before but usually after leaving it an hour or so it resolves itself. It’s been over 15 hours in this case though.

I’ve tried putting an HTML comment into the main liquid block, just as a verification that the store is using the latest version, but it isn’t.

I can see the new version release for the app in the Partners Dashboard. It also has the “Active” badge on the latest release.

I feel like I must not be the only one dealing with this - or I’m just doing something wrong.

Any help is much appreciated.

As is almost always the case, I worked it out shortly after my post above.

Within the Partners dashboard, under the app, then Extensions, “Development store preview” was On. After switching Off it works.

I’m positive it was already Off but it was back On for some reason - not sure if Shopify resets this from time-to-time or if anything related to deployment or local run of the app can reset it.

Glad you figured this out - as far as I know I don’t think this should be reset automatically, but it’s possible some environment change could have triggered this chage back to dev store preview.
