"Visible previews" requirement and the Theme Editor

My app recently received a BFS review containing this feedback:

  1. 4.2.6 Visible previews: Your app must provide a live preview for visual editors, allowing merchants to see the outcomes of their edits in real-time. You have a storefront element in a discount badge. since this affects the storefront you will need a live editor. See this screenshot.

  2. 4.2.6 Visible previews: Your app must allow merchants to view editor controls and the corresponding preview simultaneously on a desktop device. For example, the interface should enable merchants to see both the editor and the preview without needing to toggle between them or scroll up and down.

But it’s not clear on whether we must create a custom preview UI within the app dashboard, or whether the Theme Editor suffices. My app’s storefront elements completely rely on app embeds and app blocks.

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

On the live store, our app will produce the following discount badge, strikethrough, and messaging:

Does the following suffice as a “visible preview” in the Theme Editor?

Would love to know the outcome of this for future reference. Do the app blocks show a fake discount as a preview, whilst in the theme editor?

Hi Sammy, yes, that’s what I ended up doing. However, I haven’t heard back from the BFS team. I’m hoping that showing a fake discount in the Theme Editor suffices :+1:
