Loaded up an OLD OLD app in the new developer dashboard. Experience was jarring and confused and hard to figure out, but nonetheless, got it. OK. So this OLD OLD App had extensions, like links in more actions menu for product edits and order edits on the details pages.
This is now gone. Nothing left. So what happens in this case? How to remove or edit those links?? Is there any clean-up for us?
I know I can just deploy new links as extensions. Ladeeda. No trouble. But in the meantime, I am curious because I have maybe TWENTY old Apps out there running merchant shops and Shopify has not informed me they disappeared these things.
Hey @hunkybill thanks for flagging this. Right now, the best option is indeed to migrate the old admin links to the extensions framework, there’s a decent guide here that goes over the limitations in terms of extension types that are longer available to manage directly within the Dev Dashboard:
Going forward, you’ll only be able to create and manage extensions using Shopify CLI, so I wanted to mention that as well. In terms of other cleanup for the links, etc, the only thing that you need to do on your end is migrate the old-style links over to the new framework and deploy a new version of the app to finalize the changes. After that you will have to manage the extension via the CLI, but you should be set.
Please let me know if I can clarify anything else on my end here or if you encounter any issue, happy to help!
