3rd party unstructured product metafield definition handling

We are using a 3rd party application (Okendo) for product review handling in our shops.
It uses some unstructured product metafields which we would like to reach by Storefront API.
We can make metafield definitions by hand on the Shopify Admin UI and enable Storefront access.

It works great until the Okendo sync happen. The sync update these metafield values and removes all the metafield definitions which was created by hand. It runs in every 24 hours so we can’t make this changes every day.

We have also contacted the okendo team, but we have not yet received a solution proposal.

Can you please explain why our metafield definitions disappearing? Can you advise some sort of solution?

We probably can’t answer this without knowing what Okendo do on their side, they could be creating new metafield definitions on every sync for all we know.

I’d advise waiting for a reply from them first then circling back here.
