Access to Protected Customer Data Rejected — No Info in Email

Hi everyone,

I recently applied to get access to protected customer data (read_orders scope only) for my app, but my request was rejected. The message I received was:

“Sorry, your app isn’t approved to access protected customer data at this time.
Your app currently doesn’t meet Shopify’s requirements to access protected customer data. Check your email for more information.”

However, I didn’t receive any additional details in the email, just the standard rejection notice with no explanation of what requirements I didn’t meet.

I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do next. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to contact the right team or get a more specific reason so I can fix the issue and reapply?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sezer

Hi Sezer,

Can you describe at a high level what your app would require customer data for, and how that data would be handled once received by your app?

Hi @Liam-Shopify

Thank you for answer.

I require access level 1. My app enables merchants to display product variants individually on their collection pages and also allows them to manually sort these variants. To support automatic sorting by best-seller, the app reads up to 3 months of order data to calculate sales performance for each variant. This data is used solely for this sorting logic and is not stored beyond what’s necessary for the feature to function.

DMing you for more details.
