Since 6th May 2025, all my conversion source/medium data is showing as “(not set)” in Google Analytics.
Any help would be appreciated!
Do Shopify has updated anything related to tracking?

Hey @Pragnesh_Patel,
Are you noticing this for app store analytics, or is this conversion traffic on a particular store?
The reason I ask is I don’t see source/medium in any of the UTM parameters here. Since this is a change you noticed, can you share a little more context on what you were getting before this?
If this is for a particular store analytics, has anything changed with google analytics of the setup of the store at all? If not, that would be supported by the google app developers
I’m tracking my Shopify apps.
Thanks. Can you share a little more about what you were seeing before? Were these provided in UTM parameters and no longer? Just so I have an idea of what you are seeing changed as I look in to this internally.
Hi Kyle,
As Pragnesh and Kanishk have also flagged, we’re seeing the same issue across several of our apps in Google Analytics. In particular, over 70% of the shopify_app_install
events are now showing as (not set) —something that wasn’t happening previously.
This impacts the accuracy of our data and needs urgent attention. Would you be available for a quick call so we can walk you through our current setup?
I have found the solution:
Step 1: Go to Analytics > Acquisition > Traffic acquisition
Step 2: Click on pencil icon on top right
Step 3: Click on “Dimensions”
Step 4: Add the “First user source / medium” and make it default(I have already added)
Result:
We are having the same issue and I shared details here. All our data for shopify_app_install event is now looks Unassigned (not set)
Hi all! Just following up that our team is looking in to this and working on a resolution. I’ll update here again once it’s resolved.
Awesome! Thanks for your support! Looking forward to your updates.
Hi! Any update on this? Sorry June data is also getting skewed
Yes. The fix has been implemented so you should start to see the proper data going through to Google Analytics over the next day or so.
Thanks for checking in
If not, let me know!
