I have been frustrated that I am getting bots adding items to the cart and then getting automatically added to my Constant Contact customer email list. It was recommended that a 3rd party app may be able to prevent this. The Flow App. was one… Any advice on the best way to prevent this from happening? If the Flow App is the answer, I would love advice on how to set up a flow to prevent the bots. Or if there is a better way, please let me know. Thank you! PF
Flow does not work in checkout, so if you want to prevent something there, you should look at building something for “Functions” or using a 3p app that works in checkout

Thank you for your response! It was a Shopify adviser who recommended the Shopify Flow App to resolve my issue and I took their advice and yesterday set up a flow based on what she recommended. The flow is “Customer created” then “Wait for 24 hours”… Condition: “If email address marking state is equal to NOT_SUBSCRIBED AND Amount spent is equal to 0.00”… Delete customer. Do you think that this may work?
I’m not familiar with the “Functions” or 3p App that you recommended.

Is there a way you can filter which customers gets imported to Constant Contact and when? Do you know if new customers get imported as each new customer is made or periodically?
The Flow solution would work well to help clean up your list of customers. But if customers get imported before cleaning up occurs, then it wouldn’t be effective.

Thank you for getting back to me! I didn’t think of that… I actually adjusted the flow chart today to wait 24 hours until deleting the customers or bots, so that the Shopify abandoned cart reminder email can still be sent 10 hours later. I’m wondering now if delaying the deleting of the customers 24 hours will be too late, since as you mentioned, they may already get added. If they got added, would they possibly be deleted when the flow kicked in or would they stay on the list even if they were deleted from Shopify?

Good question! That would depend on how your integration with Constant Contact works. You might need to create a fake customer in Shopify and run a test to see if deleting the customer in Shopify results in their email getting removed from Constant Contact as well. If not, see if you can delay how soon and often customers get imported to Constant Contact to give Flow time to do some cleaning.
