I’m experiencing an issue with the checkout on noordcode.com. When you go to checkout, fill in your information, then leave the checkout, add another item to the cart, and re-enter the checkout, all previously filled information is lost. The customer has to re-enter everything again.
On another store I manage, mudjeans.com, this exact scenario works correctly, the checkout retains the previously entered information. I can also confirm that no apps are being used there.
Is this behavior controlled by a specific Shopify setting? I haven’t been able to find anything that explains the difference.
Additional info
The “Address Autocompletion” setting is enabled on both stores.
ShopPay is disabled due to some issues we faced, but we have another store https://nl.livehelfi.com/, here also ShopPay is disabled. But the mentioned feature is working here as expected.
Yes, we have shared the issue with support as well, the case is now escalated to a developer. So we are waiting for response. I will update here if I have a solution.
This usually happens when the checkout can’t save its session cookies. Shopify will keep previously entered information only if the browser is allowed to store the checkout cookie and the same checkout session is still active.
A couple of quick things to compare between the two stores:
1. Customer privacy / cookie settings
If NoordCode has stricter cookie consent settings, the checkout won’t remember the data.
2. Cookie banner behavior
If the store’s cookie banner blocks Shopify cookies until the customer accepts, the checkout won’t retain anything.
3. Theme or scripts triggering a new checkout
Certain cart or theme customizations can create a new checkout session each time you return to checkout.
There isn’t a specific Shopify setting that directly turns this on or off — it depends on cookies and whether the same checkout session is being reused.
