Clarification Needed on 4.2.3 "Helpful Homepage" Requirement from BFS Review

Hi everyone,

We’re currently in the process of applying for Built for Shopify and received feedback from the BFS audit team regarding section 4.2.3 — Helpful Homepage. The exact note we received is:

“Your app must communicate the status of the theme block and/or theme embed on the app’s homepage. You need a permanent container on the home page that shows the status of the App Blocks/Embeds. If your app has multiple App Blocks/Embeds, a useful approach would be to display a status on the homepage, with wording like ‘You have X app blocks active.’ This status also still needs to indicate when there are no app blocks activated as well.”

We need clarification on:
Is it mandatory to display the status of App Blocks on the app’s homepage?
We’ve reviewed several top apps on the Shopify App Store and haven’t seen any that clearly show “You have X app blocks active” or similar messaging on their homepages.

Hi @SaurabhWadhawan

It is a mandatory feature to display number of blocks which are active, and if there’s none active. See requirement here: Built for Shopify requirements
