Short description of issue
Updating to Ignite v2.5.2 sometimes loses theme settings
Reproduction steps
We’re getting multiple reports of merchants losing their settings_data.json contents (see screenshot for how this manifests) after updating to our latest version of the theme (Ecommerce Website Templates - Free and Premium Themes for Your Online Store.). It’s not a theme issue as far as I know, because retrying the update will eventually work on one of them, it just seems to take a few goes.
Additional info
See the screenshot for the contents of a failed update. Notice that the ‘current’ json node does not contain theme settings.

Hi - we’re investigating this, will update here when there’s more to share.

Hi. Any update on this or timeline for fix? This bug is causing users a lot of frustration and is also having a negative effect on theme purchases (due to trial users losing all their content). It is far from ideal that currently all we can do is instruct merchants not to update to the latest version. Thanks.
We’re also getting reports of this. I’d like to add that it appears to happen only for stores where code has been added directly to the files.
I tested using Horizon to confirm, and adding even a minor CSS tweak triggers the error on any update attempt afterward.

We have tested on trial theme installs (hence no code edits) and the problem still occurs.
Hi folks - this should be resolved now, are you still seeing this on your side?

No reports of any issues from customers, thank you!
Hi. Problems still remain: We received a report from a customer that wording (default theme content) is not being copied, when updating the theme version. I verified on 6th April that indeed this issue exists - theme wording/content in language files is resetting to defaults.
