Atelier 1.0.5 Theme Update Error "Validation failed: setting 'product' does not exist"

FYI Shopify theme update error
Atelier 1.0.5 → 2.0.1

  • Failed update on styled but clean Atelier 1.0.5 theme
  • Failed update on Atelier 1.0.5 theme where ai blocks where generated
  • Successfully can add Atelier 2.0.1 theme via Theme Store

I have not had any Admin update issues with other Horizon themes so far.
While this may a bug, error should be revised so it is helpful to Store Owners. Namely what to do for next steps. Contact theme developer, Support etc.

Hello @cee_em,
If your Atelier update failed, the best way is to install the fresh 2.0.1 theme and manually copy your custom code or settings from 1.0.5.

We can help compare the two versions, migrate your sections, blocks, or customizations, and test that everything works.

A fix went out for this yesterday and the update should work.

if that does not work for you, manually edit the liquid to instead be closest.product.description

Confirming theme update to 2.0.1 successful via Admin.

Hey Stephanie,

Experiencing another Admin update error, this time for a third-party theme (Theme store purchased).

Loaded the latest version last week. Observice minor content changes via merchant, so attempted to load an updated theme again today.

Unlike last week, I’m presented with a similar update error to Atelier. This theme does have customisations which I am intending to migrate. Luckily I can work on the last week’s copy of the latest version. No dramas there.

Regarding specifics, my understanding is that only content has been updated since then but I cannot guarantee this of course as it’s a live site with a merchant.

The Admin error message ties in prior feedback. I would say that the message is not helpful for most users.

what theme and from what version to what version? what error are you seeing?
