Cross Domain Mesaurement with Google Analytics

Hi Fellow Developers!

I was very happy with the capability that I can set up App Listing Traffic Tracking, and I can track how many person clicks on the “Add App Button” in the Shopify App Store.

But truly, that’s only the first part of the user journey. I would like to set up something to track the whole flow of my users journey, starting from the app listing to the point where they subscribe to my Shopify App’s services.

This way, I could track which marketing sources are actually converting. I feel like this already acquired data is lost otherwise.

I came across Cross Domain Measurement in Google Analytics, and I was wondering, if this is already usable, or could be possible later on with the Shopify App Store Analytics capabilities to be used.

I tried to configure it, but I wasn’t able to see the required parameters for cross domain measurement in my URLs.

What do you think about this idea?
Did somebody experiment with this?
Or went with a similar solution?

Thanks in advance!
Happy Coding

Hi @Bendeguz_Gulyas

Good question.

From my experience with integrating GA, the domain names of the properties do not matter.

As long as you have the tracking code installed on your website and referenced by your Shopify App Listing, then all of those events will end up in the same GA4 property.

That said, you can use custom reports to separate events by host name if you’d like. That will allow you to filter the customer journey based on the Shopify.com site vs your own sites.
