Hi Team,
I have been trying to understand the restrictions and allowances around External Payment Providers and automating the order completion process in a physical store.
It is stated in this Shopify Article: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/third-party-providers that ‘manual payments are excluded from third-party transaction fees.’ and in Clarification on Shopify's External Payment Restrictions it is noted that providers like Stripe would likely not be allowed in an APP/ONLINE deployment.
However, I’m working with a merchant that has an extensive online Shopify store. They are extremely happy with it. They are using the Shopify POS for their physical store transactions as well to keep stock levels accurate. However, due to external requirements, they have to use a third party payment device to take payments in store. This causes extra steps for the staff to mark the order as paid in the Shopify POS after payment is taken on the other device. It also can cause errors if the staff forget to do this.
Upon reading through the development documentation, I can see a way to resolve this issue for the merchant however I wanted to ensure this would allowable from Shopify?
If so, if it would have any additional transactions fees, outside of those applied by the third party payment device, from Shopify?
This solution would be only used for a Physical store, and leave their online store through Shopify untouched.
Any thoughts or guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.
