Hi there,
We are developing a mobile app frontend for one of our customer’s Shopify stores using the Storefront API. Recently, the customer requested the implementation of a “Buy with Apple Pay” button—not within the checkout process (which is already implemented), but before checkout. This would allow us to display a “Buy with Apple Pay” button alongside the checkout button, enabling users to complete the purchase instantly.
To our surprise, we noticed that this feature is already listed on the product roadmap for mobile commerce:
Apple Pay and Google Pay support pre-checkout (buy now)
The release target was Q4 2024; however, it does not appear to be implemented yet. We would like to know if this feature is currently under development.
We also noted the following in the documentation: “Please share your feedback with us on what future features you’d like to see”. In light of our customer’s predominantly iOS user base and the critical role that Apple Pay plays as a payment option on their Shopify store, we kindly request that the priority of this feature be raised.
Thank you for your consideration.
Andreas
