Getting “The server encountered an error, the submission could not be processed” when uploading my theme ZIP

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to upload my custom theme ZIP file to the Shopify Partner Dashboard (Theme submission section). Every time I try, I get this message:

“To submit your theme, fix 1 issue. The server encountered an error, the submission could not be processed.”

I have already followed all the theme submission guidelines:

  • Valid config/settings_schema.json and config/settings_data.json

  • No missing templates or sections

  • Properly zipped structure (no extra folder level, includes /layout/theme.liquid)

I even re-zipped the theme and tried from a different browser and network, but still get the same error.

Has anyone faced this issue recently? Is it a server-side Shopify issue or is there something I might be missing in the theme ZIP structure?

Any advice or recent updates from Shopify about this upload error would be really appreciated.
