Has anyone had Shopify approve a block rename from “Testimonials” to something like “Custom Text/Image” to avoid fake reviews rejection?

Hi everyone,

I’m running a Shopify App (a Page Builder). Recently my app was delisted from the App Store because of a “Testimonials” block, which allowed merchants to add their own content that looked like customer reviews.

I understand Shopify’s concern about fake reviews, but in my case, the block was only meant as a static content block (similar to text + image) and not a verified review system.

My question:

  • Has anyone here had experience with Shopify approving a block after renaming/redefining it (for example from “Testimonials” → “Custom Text with Avatar/Image”)?

  • Did you add any disclaimer (e.g. “This is not a verified review system”)?

  • Any advice on how to present this to the Shopify QA team so the app can be re-listed?

Thanks in advance — I’d love to hear if others faced the same issue and how you solved it.
