Hi Shopify team and fellow developers ![]()
I’m a co-founder of a small but fast-growing Shopify app, and I’m posting this after seeing Shopify’s recent update about strengthening trust in App Store reviews.
We understand the importance of keeping App Store reviews trustworthy, but we believe our app may have been affected by the recent review filtering.
What happened
On July 6, four reviews were removed from our app listing.
These reviews were from real customers who genuinely use our app.
We have proof and screenshots that can demonstrate that these merchants are real customers, and we’d be happy to provide everything privately via DM if someone from Shopify can help us look into this.
For a small and growing app, every genuine review makes a huge difference. Having four legitimate reviews removed at once has had a significant impact on our credibility and growth.
Built for Shopify
On July 27, we received an email saying that our Built for Shopify status is at risk, with a deadline of September 20, 2026.
After checking the requirements, we found that we’re currently below the required 5 reviews.
This is directly related to the four reviews that were removed.
We’d really appreciate some help from the Shopify team in understanding what happened and whether the removed reviews can be reviewed.
We can provide everything needed
We can share privately:
- Proof that the four reviewers are real customers
- Screenshots showing their usage of our app
- Customer information connecting them to our app
- Screenshots of our Built for Shopify dashboard
- Any additional information needed to investigate
If someone from the Shopify App Store or Built for Shopify team could take a look or point us in the right direction, we’d really appreciate it.
We’ve been working very hard to grow the app and provide the best possible experience for our merchants, so this is really important to us.
Thank you ![]()
