Horizon 2.3.0 bugs - Remove image/video option for more complex slideshow content layouts

Reproduction steps

More complex layouts can be created inside a slide other than just a photo or video. (See images attached)

However if no full width photo is created as a slide, a placeholder image is shown behind the other content blocks and is briefly visible between the slides.

Additional info

Fix:

The placeholder is still useful when the default image option is selected.

A workaround could be to add a “None”, “Content” or “Other” setting to the slide Type, and if selected do not show the image or placeholder image behind the slide content.

Thanks for your feedback on this - Horizons carousel section provides a very similar experience without the forced image background problem. Could you use this instead of the slideshow section?

I’ve had a look at the carousel section but the only available block type is a card which doesn’t support a 50% width.

Also the carousel section doesn’t have an Auto-rotate slides setting.

The slideshow really is the best option. I see that new slideshow types have been added in 2.3.1. What would be super useful is a something like split showcase inside a slideshow (like my screenshots).

It’s useful for merchants that do not have wide landscape images and want to display a 50/50 layout inside a slide.

…Actually another option could be to have the Content position as “Beside media” to have it at the side.
