Hi, not sure this is the right forum but If we want to merge our two Shopify apps (as we previously acquired another company), what’s the best way to approach this? Is there someone we could speak to for technical guidance?
That’s tricky.
I believe you basically have two options:
- Force migrate merchants from App B to App A
- Offer discount incentive
- Offer data migration
- Offer 1:1 set up services
- Expect high churn
- Merge codebases and maintain both apps as two different listings indefinitely
- Code complexity
- Multiple support inboxes
- May not be a liable option, there might be a provision in the Partner TOS against multiple apps in the same category
No merchant wants to have their business plans interrupted by an app asking to re-create their solution in a different app than what they signed up for.
I don’t believe Shopify can give you any tooling to merge subscriptions in the backend or update authorizations to a different app.
Hey @Hanna_Morell - @Dylan is on point here. We don’t currently offer a way to easily merge multiple specific apps into one app, but we do have some internal processes for merging partner accounts/organizations and transferring apps to different partner accounts.
You would have to reach out to support directly through help.shopify.com for assistance with that process, but they may be able to help out with the details there.
Just wanted to share that info as it may be a bit of help at the very least!
