Marketing/Attribution app incorrectly required to submit as Sales Channel

Hi everyone,

We’re stuck in app review and need clarity.

Our app (CloZ): AI-powered style coach & product matching app Submitted as: Marketing and conversion › Advertising › Advertising - Other Review decision: Resubmit as Sales Channel

What we do:

  • Users match products with their wardrobe via AI on the Cloz mobile app

  • When they want to buy → redirected to merchant’s Shopify store via tracked link

  • We capture referrer ID, store in cart attribute

  • Read orders/paid webhook for attribution analytics

  • All purchases happen on Shopify’s website

What we DON’T do:

  • :cross_mark: No write_orders scope — can’t create orders

  • :cross_mark: No external checkout — all purchases on Shopify

  • :cross_mark: No payment processing

  • :cross_mark: No sales_channel config in manifest

Shopify’s definition: “A sales channel lets merchants sell products on platforms outside their Shopify store.”

We don’t sell anything. Users click product in our app → land on Shopify store → checkout on Shopify. That’s attribution, not a sales channel.

Questions:

  1. What specific functionality triggers Sales Channel requirement?

Anyone faced this? How did you resolve it?

Thanks :folded_hands:
