The “More apps like this” section appears below each app’s detail page.
A few days ago, my app was removed from this section and replaced by another app.
I’d like to understand what factors determine which apps are placed in higher positions in this section.
What I find particularly difficult to understand is that some apps with relatively low install numbers, lower ratings, and without the “Built for Shopify” badge are still ranked #1 in this section.
I contacted Shopify Support about this, and they told me that the criteria are considered internal information, so they are not allowed to share them. They also said that there are no publicly disclosed criteria that apps can use to compete fairly for placement in this section.
Is there some kind of trick or undisclosed factor that helps an app achieve a higher position in this section?
Or is Shopify selectively sharing internal ranking criteria with certain apps, allowing them to secure higher positions, and has that information somehow been leaked?
What makes this especially confusing is that some apps with lower install numbers, lower ratings, and without the “Built for Shopify” badge can still appear in the #1 position.
