The extension does not appear on the order-details screen in the POS app,
while other apps’ extensions do show there (Colissimo, Comply,
Order Printer Pro).
What I already tried:
Uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the store
Force-quit and relaunched the POS app
Confirmed the version is Active and the extension is listed in the
Dev Dashboard
The bundle builds without errors (25.4 KB)
Note: this is a production store on the Shopify plan, not a dev store,
so shopify app dev is unavailable (“Could not find store for domain
… Ensure the store is a dev store”).
Is a minimum POS app version required for api_version 2026-01?
Anything else needed for the extension to render?
Hey @Lohan_VLAMINCK - thanks for sharing the details and what you’ve already tried.
Both targets are supported in 2026-01. They should provide a button in the order’s action menu and a modal that opens when tapped, rather than an inline block on the order-details screen.
The first thing I’d check is whether the extension is activated in the store’s POS editor. Having an active version in the Dev Dashboard is separate from enabling that functionality in POS.
In Shopify admin, open Point of Sale → Edit Point of Sale → Apps, find your extension, activate its action functionality, and save. Then reopen an existing order in POS and check its action menu. The activation steps are covered here:
Whether the extension appears in the POS editor and is enabled there. A screenshot with any customer information removed would help.
Your exact POS app version, device model, and OS version. I haven’t verified a minimum POS version specifically for 2026-01 yet, so I don’t want to give you an incorrect cutoff.
Your shopify.extension.toml, the menu-item entry file, and relevant package dependency versions, with any credentials removed. That will help check the target mappings and whether the code matches the web-component rendering model used by 2026-01.
The shopify app dev error is expected for a production store, the local preview workflow requires a separate dev store. That restriction doesn’t itself explain why your deployed extension is missing though from what I can see.
Let us know what you find in the POS editor, and we can narrow this down from there.
Turns out the extension was listed in the POS editor all along (Point of Sale > Edit Point of Sale > Apps), but “Enable on: Order details” was toggled off, which explained the missing checkmark. Enabling it and saving fixed the issue immediately.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
