Hello Shopify team,
Our engineering team is currently working on migrating our GraphQL API integration from version 2024-07 to 2025-04.
In the 2024-07 version, we’ve been publishing active products to the Online Store Sales Channel using the publishedAt
field in the productUpdate
mutation.
However, this method appears to be deprecated in version 2025-04, and we understand that the publishablePublish
mutation should now be used instead.
The challenge we’re facing is that none of our users’ current access tokens include the read_publications
and write_publications
scopes, which are required for the new approach.
Would it be possible for the Shopify team to help backfill these scopes to our existing access tokens to avoid requiring users to re-consent? We believe this form is the correct one to initiate the request, but we wanted to confirm it’s still valid.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Francisco

Hey @Francisco_Delgado - thanks for reaching out and thanks as well to the other folks reading this thread handling similar issues. Just wanted to touch base here to let you know I’m looking into this and will reach out with more info once I can confirm if that’s still the best form to reach out on.
Speak with you as soon as I get that info.
Hey @Francisco_Delgado
- I was able to speak with my team a bit faster than expected on this - can confirm that we are still taking backfill requests through that form.
On my end, I can’t guarantee that the request will be granted, but you are definitely more than welcome to reach out via that form to request a backfill.
Hope this helps!
Hello @Alan_G
,
Thanks so much for the quick response!
We already submitted the form over the weekend—fingers crossed your team can help us out, as that would save us a significant lift on our end.
I’ll be keeping an eye on my inbox for the good news.
Do you happen to have an ETA for when it might be fulfilled? The form mentions you folks backfill scopes every Friday but I am unsure that’s still the case. Unfortunately, we’re on a bit of a tight timeline—only 6 weeks left to complete the migration before we start encountering API request errors.
Really appreciate your help,
Francisco
Hey @Francisco_Delgado - no worries, happy to help! I can’t confirm a turnaround time at the moment, but could you ping me here if you don’t see a response from us on the form submission by next Monday? I can look into it further if need be, happy to help out with that for sure.
