I’m working on promoting a Shopify app and would love to hear from those who have experience with Shopify App Store listings. What marketing channels did you use to drive traffic and installs?
Some specific questions I have:
Did you focus more on organic or paid channels?
What did you do to increase App Store organic traffic?
What ad platforms (Google, Meta, Reddit, etc.) worked best for you?
Any success with influencer or affiliate marketing? How did you source affiliates?
Did app store SEO make a significant impact?
Any unexpected strategies that worked (or didn’t)?
I’d really appreciate any insights, case studies, or even lessons learned from failed experiments. Thanks in advance!
The keyword and reviews competitiveness for your app’s space in the Shopify App Store are key.
But the Shopify App Store is just one channel. You may find that SEO, or Google Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads or Shopify App Store Ads may drive a healthy amount of traffic to your app.
Either way, at the end of all of those funnels is your app listing itself.
It needs to concisely describe what your app does, and the pain points it solves or super powers it enables. It needs well designed screenshots, and an demo video that captures why the merchant should try it.
It also helps to create a demo store that showcases the functionality of your app to prospects, so they can try before they even sample.
Then you have to focus on pricing. Is your app priced in a specific position or niche? Do you have a free trial? Is there a freemium model?
All of these things can affect your positioning in the market.
