Shopify partners promote their app outside Shopify app store, using the Facebook ads or Google ads.
But Shopify is not clear about how we can use the Shopify keyword in the PPC keywords list,
Like one side Shopify blog suggest to run ads on search engines and one side Shopify restricting to use Shopify in the keywords.
It’s next to impossible to run ads without adding Shopify keyword in the keyword list, If I am promoting Upsell app then I need to target keywords like “shopify upsell app”, “Create upsell on shopify”.
Please clarify about this so we can promote Shopify apps using Google PPC ads.
Lot of brands are running ads on Google search and using “Shopify” keyword in the targeting like “shopify live chat” or “shopify returns” etc.
I mean end of the day product is on the Shopify app store and we’re promoting it.
Shopify needs to allow bidding on target keywords like “checkout app for Shopify”, “COD app for Shopify”, etc, except bidding on keywords like “shopify” or “shopify app store” only.
I request you to let Shopify advocates or responsible team should know the pain point!
Some of the partners are using the keyword “Shopify” and even bidding on their app target keywords also. Please allow all the partners to promote their apps on target keywords atleast. We will not bid on keyword like “Shopify” and “Shopify app store” but atleast allow us to bid on app target keywords like “COD app for Shopify” or “Create Upsell on Shopify”. End of the day traffic will come to Shopify app store! Please update me on it.
Hi, we’re facing the same problem. Shopify prohibitation to use keywords makes running ads nonsensical. I honestly don’t understand that rule. The ads help to get to more people and grow. All the partner ecosystem grows (and Shopify too). They should remove this rule and let us run ads freely.
Also, there are apps that clearly don’t have this limitation, as they keep using “shopify app” as a keyword to run google ads. I have already reported them using that link, and nothing happens. I don’t know what else to do, I tried opening a chat, sent emails, completed the report, and asked on the forums. No one gives an explanation about how this works. Some apps can use the keywords, but some of us can’t. It’s not serious at all, and so discouraging and frustrating.
