Use of "shopify" keywords

Hello! Has anyone been banned or received warnings about the use of the “Shopify” keywords on Google Ads? We were prohibited from using it, and modified all our ads accordingly (this happened like 6 months ago). But I keep seeing other apps that are using “Shopify” as a keyword to run ads. Why are some allowed to do so? Shouldn’t we all play on a level field?

I reported this multiple times, but they just ignore me, and it’s been 6 months, and our competitors keep appearing on Google as a sponsored result with “shopify app” keywords. Any tips on what to do here???

Hi @Ceci_R

We have also received relevant warnings, and we no longer run ads related to the Shopify keyword.

It has never been permitted to use ‘Shopify’ as a keyword, but that does not stop people since Shopify does not enforce any consequences.

I also suspect they do not actually look for these violations, rather they are reported by others.

We also received warnings, so probably someone reported us. But we removed all ads immediately. Now there are apps that have been reported, but they still use the keywords. How is that competing on a level field? All the apps should have the same rules and restrictions.

When we received our warning a year ago, our BFS badge was removed for a month. I’m not sure whether that’s common practice now.

PS, Shopify stopped caring about all of us and our businesses a long time ago! So, if your looking for equal & consistent anything, you will be searching forever!
