We have received a trademark notice for app and it was mainly for app logo and app name for considering some specific words. We have changed the app logo but we do not want to change the app name because if that specific word will be removed then the app will loss it’s visibility and easy identification about what that app is doing.
Now the problem we are facing is in the Shopify legal team’s email the link for trademark notice as well as the link which we can use to submit an appeal through a form both are not working and redirect us to Shopify 404 page. Another problem is that we have explained everything twice in the same email still Shopify legal team is not acknowledging anything and demanding the change in a strict and a nearned deadline which is on upcoming Monday.
We took merchant support twice and explained everything to support executives; they are understanding everything and saying they have passed this to the legal team but it seems like we are stuck here. Could someone from Shopify team connect with us here or in the inbox so that we can have better communication.
We would like the trademark notice to be closed or the appeal form to be opened or atleast our deadline more extended so we can communicate effectively. Hoping for help from Shopify team.
Thank you @Ying_Li for your response on this ,Yes, it is regarding Instagram. They said we cannot use the word “Instagram” in our app title. But our app connects through Instagram and provides features that revolve around it. If we do not use this word in the app name, then users will not be able to identify what the app is about just by reading the name.
Could you please let us know how you are dealing with this? We would also like the Shopify team to check this, as many people might be facing the same issue.
Our deadline is the same, next monday, it is a disaster to us. We have replied to their email and waiting for their response. I will share with you when I got their message. Would you also let me know your progress?
As mentioned in the post, I have replied to the legal team, but they are not acknowledging my queries. I contacted Partner Support with 2–3 support tickets, but they are saying the same thing that they have forwarded my points to the internal and legal teams, and the legal team might help or consider them.

Hey guys, check this out. Actually this is my case.
If you offer an app, website or a product or service that uses the Instagram APIs or is otherwise compatible with or related to Instagram, you may only use Instagram to say that your app is “for Instagram” or that the name of your campaign is “on Instagram” in a descriptive manner.
Thank you @Ying_Li but can we still use “Instagram” in our app name ?
If yes then how will we convince Shopify legal team to allow it ?
and if No then i am afraid that other apps will still keep using it and that would be an unfair disadvantage.
I think we can still use the Instagram word. I will send another mail to the Shopify legal team. I will include the screenshot and the link to see what they say.
I have sent an email around 20 hours ago to them. But it was moreover regarding the broken trademark appeal form link and it was a formal request to keep using my current app name as it is.
What else should i add in my next email ? Could you please guide me ?

I submitted my appeal on Saturday, but I haven’t heard back yet. It’s already Monday here. I haven’t changed the name yet; I asked about 2–3 app names in the email to check if I can keep any of them
