Hi everyone,
I’m writing this because, like many of you in this thread, I am currently stuck in a review limbo that is becoming unsustainable for my business.
My app has been submitted for over 5 weeks now, and it hasn’t even been assigned to a reviewer yet. During the last Partner Town Hall, Shopify leadership stated that reducing review times is a top priority. However, the actual experience suggests otherwise.
We keep hearing that Shopify is “doing their best,” but from a developer’s perspective, there are only two ways to solve a bottleneck like this:
-
Improve the process/automation to make reviews faster.
-
Increase headcount to handle the volume.
Which of these is actually happening? If it’s a process improvement, that might help long-term, but it doesn’t help the hundreds of partners losing revenue right now. If it’s a headcount issue, why hasn’t Shopify scaled the team to meet the demand of the ecosystem they’ve built?
Furthermore, the policy of being sent to the “back of the queue” if a fix is required is incredibly punishing. It turns a 5-week wait into a 10-week wait for potentially minor adjustments.
Can we get a concrete update on what is being done today to clear this backlog? I think we need more than “we’re working on it”, we need to know if resources are actually being added to the team.
